This season, we were captivated by the idea of a Celestial Goddess. An ethereal, supernova being exuding stellar beauty and strength. A woman- warrior living in a cosmic void.
Inspired by the ideation behind Yayoi Kusama’s Infinity Mirrored Room, as well as the work of sculptor Alexander Calder, the Resort Collection juxtaposes light with dark, movement with structure, and delicate with severe. A color palette grounded in crisp white, graphite and black is warmed with amber tones, soft quartz and deep auburn.
Kusama’s use of mirrors and scattered light informs intricate embroidery comprised of both solid and iridescent beading, strewn together – appearing to be crystalized while reflecting light. Alternately, Calder’s use of metal hardware in mix-matched sizes, finishes and color is referenced via metal detailing throughout the collection- matte black and silver snap closures, gold/silver geometric embellishments, and a custom hardware piece designed as a focal point in various dresses and separates.
Silhouettes feature clean, architectural lines in an array of precisely tailored separates, fluid jumpsuits, gowns, a variety of bodysuits, knitwear and slinky slips. Triangular draping cascades down the front and side of select pieces – a technique mimicking the lines in the mathematical formula used in celestial navigation.
